This hearty sausage gravy smothered all over yummy hot biscuits will certainly make you feel like you’re in the south! Plus it only takes about 30 minutes start to finish!
One of the meals I remember eating when I visited my Mawmaw and Pawpaw as a kid were these biscuits and gravy. To my surprise a few years later I learned that my Mom also knew how to make them! What had she been hiding from me all this time? This is definitely a meal that will fill you up, but if you’re feeling wild you can also serve with fried eggs and bacon (yes more pork) on the side!
This is a dish that I somewhat wish I never learned how to cook from my Mom because, well, I think I eat it all the time. But that’s what it’s here for, so you can also enjoy it!
All you really need to do for this recipe is cook the breakfast sausage, add flour and egg, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and some love.
Can’t make anything without love right? If you do not like spicy, Jimmy Dean also makes a regular breakfast sausage that is also delicious. Or you can skip Jimmy Dean all together and just buy the breakfast sausage you prefer.
Either way, it will be a hit.
Fresh biscuits is something I have not yet made, but I hear it’s super easy! If I come across a recipe that works that makes out-of-your-mind biscuits then I will definitely share with you all.
For whatever reason I think it’s this labor-intensive thing. But I could be totally wrong. I usually went for the Pillsbury buttermilk or homestyle biscuits in a can, and this time I tried the Pillsbury frozen buttermilk biscuits. The frozen ones actually taste more homemade than the cans.
Guess I’m slowly leaning more towards homemade! For now, you can love me for this easy to make sausage gravy.
Baby steps guys, baby steps.
